Hunting Licenses & Hunting Seasons

Any person 12 years or older may obtain a hunting license in Colorado. Anyone born after January 1, 1949 must have a current hunter education certificate before applying for a license.

This Hunter's Education certificate must be carried with the hunter while in the field. Hunters ages 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult who has passed the hunter safety course.

A Big Game Hunting Statistics book, Colorado Outdoors Magazine, and a Big Game Management Unit Map are all available from Colorado Outdoors, 6060 Broadway, Denver, CO 80216, (303) 297-1192.

Detailed information on hunting seasons and license applications is available from the Colorado Division of Wildlife. Each year the DOW publishes hunting brochures with Colorado hunting regulations, and the latest versions of these Hunting Brochures are online and available for downloading in .pdf format.

Hunting seasons and license fees as well as hunting regulations and up-to-date information about small game and big game hunting in Southwest Colorado is available from the Colorado Department of Wildlife website. You may also email your questions directly to Colorado DOW at askDOW@state.co.us.
