Rainbow, Cutthroat, Brown and Brook trout are easily enticed by artificial flies in these crystal clear backcountry brooks. The fish range from pan-size in the high mountain streams to sixteen inches in the Dolores river catch-and-release area. Bear, Chicken, Fish and Stoner Creeks, and the Dolores, West Dolores, and West Mancos rivers are all good fishing streams. The trail system feeds into the Colorado Trail and includes many well-maintained branches and approaches to the 400-mile cross-state trail. 	TRAIL MAP 3 - The Transfer Recreation Area, which includes a campground, picnic area, scenic overlook, and large corral for overnight stock, is also the hub for several trailheads. Included are the Big Al, West Mancos, Transfer, Rim, Chicken Creek, Morrison, and the Aspen Loop ATV trail. Access the Transfer Recreation area from the West Mancos Road (FDR 561), approximately 11 miles northeast of Mancos. The campground turnoff will be off to the right. 	TRAIL MAP 4 - Dolores River Canyon HIKING TRAIL MILES - ONE WAY MAP # DIFFICULTY Dolores River Canyon 15 & 11 4 Easy & Moderate TRAIL MAP 5 - The Mesa Verde Trails - Due to the fragile nature of the archaeological sites and artifacts in Mesa Verde National Park, hiking in the park is restricted. Hikers who hike away from developed areas or designated trails are subject to penalties. However, several developed trails do provide a more remote visitor experience. Please stay on the trail and avoid getting close to cliff edges. Be sure to follow special site preservation guidelines in order to preserve our fragile cultural heritage.
