Verde Fest is a free, fun-filled family event fostering green living practices.
A sustainable, regenerative community is one that preserves and restores the integrity of its natural environment, nurtures healthy human and other living systems, and maintains a vital self-reliant economy, generation after generation. A sustainable, regenerative community meets the basic needs of all people, including the needs for food, water, shelter, health, safety, autonomy, connectedness, and meaning.
Verde Fest is a great way to learn about renewable energy technology, composting, green building techniques, agritourism, landscape conservation and restoration practices, recycling, alternative vehicles, eco products, and natural health. A number of activities designed for children, but often enjoyed by adults as well, are also available. The Durango Discovery Museums Solar Roller will offer 6 engaging hands-on activities to improve energy awareness. Other hands-on activities for kids will be provided by rangers from Mesa Verde National Park.
In addition to participating in hands-on activities and enjoying the exhibit booths, vendors will also be providing organic food. Kids will love watching their smoothy being made with a bicycle-run blender. 
Music will be provided throughout the day and short presentations will be given in the speaker's pavilion.
