Verde Fest Four Corners Sustainability Fair
August 19 - 21, 2010

Verde Fest is a free, fun-filled family event fostering green living practices.

The Fest is a great way to learn about renewable energy technology, composting, green building techniques, agritourism, landscape conservation and restoration practices, recycling, alternative vehicles, eco products, and natural health. A number of activities designed for children, but often enjoyed by adults as well, are also available. The Durango Discovery Museums Solar Roller will offer 6 engaging hands-on activities to improve energy awareness. Other hands-on activities for kids will be provided by rangers from Mesa Verde National Park.

In addition to participating in hands-on activities and enjoying the exhibit booths, vendors will also be providing organic food. Kids will love watching their smoothy being made with a bicycle-run blender. Verde Fest Four Corners Sustainabiity FairMusic will be provided throughout the day and short presentations will be given in the speaker's pavilion.

A special feature of Verde Fest will be a presentation by Joel Glanzberg, author and educator in the area of permaculture and ecological restoration. In addition to his presentation, Glanzberg will also lead a half-day workshop on water harvesting — the redirection and productive use of rainfall.
